BUTTERNUT BROWN, 210 SLATE GRAY PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: TWP is a high solids penetrative coating for extending the service life of shakes and shingle. It is designed to enhance the structural integrity and appearance of aged roofing. The product will minimize grain cracking, surface erosion, water absorbency and surface attack from mildew and algae. At 93% non-volatile solids, the product will add lubricity and re-bulk aged dried out wood fiber or brittle shingles. The product complies with all know state and federal VOC(Volatile Organic Compound) regulations. PRODUCT USES: Horizontal or Vertical , new or old wood shakes, wood shingles, decorative railroad ties, rough sawn structural wood. SURFACE PREPARATION: NEW WOOD: All new wood must be thoroughly wetted by rain or tap water at least twice to open wood grain and remove excess surface tannins. Allow a minimum of 48 hours of good drying conditions before applying TWP. OLD WOOD: Replace any cracked or severely cupped shingles. If the surface is 15% defective, it is advisable to re-roof. Rinse surface with 3:1 mix of water and household bleach to remove mildew; use wood bleach to brighten wood and follow with 1500 p.s.i. power washer to remove dead surface fiber. Allow a minimum of 48 hours of good drying conditions before applying TWP. PREVIOUSLY STAINED WOOD: Remove all of the old finish with power washing or paint stripper when necessary. Failure to remove the existing finish will result in a blotchy TWP application due to uneven penetration and discoloration of aged finish. METHOD OF APPLICATION: MIX THOROUGHLY BEFORE USING!. Airless spray is the most common method of application, though brush and roll may be used for smaller areas. Do not apply below 40° F, if rain is anticipated with 48 hours or heavy dew is present.
